Managing Users in Ripple

Ripple’s user management features allow Site Admins to efficiently manage lab members' access and account status. This article outlines how Site Admins can add new users, send enrollment emails, unlock accounts, and reset passwords.

Who Can Manage Users?

Only users with the Site Admin role have permission to manage other users in Ripple. If you are not a Site Admin, please contact your lab’s administrator for assistance.

Adding a New User

Step 1: Navigate to the Users Section

  1. Go to the Site Admin tab (red).

  2. Select the Users section (green).

  3. Click the Add User button.


Step 2: Enter User Details

You’ll be prompted to provide the following information:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email Address

  • Site Permissions (choose one):

    • Site Admin & Registry Access

    • Site Manager & Registry Access

    • Registry Access

    • None

  • Study Assignments, Roles, and Permissions

Note: Site permissions define what the user can access across the site. You can further assign study-specific roles after the user is created.

Step 3: Send the Invitation

After entering the user’s information:

  • Click Send Invitation to email the user a link to create their Ripple account.

Managing User Access

Assign or Update Study Access

To add or remove a user from a study:

  1. Return to the Users section under Site Admin.

  2. Click on the user's name to open their profile.

  3. Assign or update study access, roles, and permissions as needed.

Additional User Management Actions

Resend Enrollment Email

If the user does not receive the invitation email:

  1. Go to Site Admin > Users.

  2. Locate the user with the "Pending" status.

  3. Click the Resend Invitation icon.

Unlock a Locked Account or Lock an Account(Disable)

Accounts may lock after multiple failed login attempts:

  1. In the Users section, find the user with a lock icon.

  2. Click Unlock Account to restore access. To restrict access, click lock.

Reset a User’s Password

To initiate a password reset:

  1. Find the user in the Users list.

  2. Click Reset Password.

  3. The user will receive an email to set a new password.
