Searching for a Custom Variable within a Participant Profile

The search bar in the "Potential Participant" and "Enrolled Participant" tabs allows users to quickly locate participant profiles by name. Additionally, it can be used to search for custom variables and contact card information within a profile.

Searching for a Custom Variable in the Search Bar

To search for a specific custom variable, you need to direct the search bar by using the following format:

✅ Example: Searching for "Tigers" in the "Favorite Animal" Variable

This search will return all participants who have "Tiger" recorded as their Favorite Animal in their profile.

Notes on Using Custom Variable Search

Flexible Spacing Around the Colon (:)

  • "Favorite Animal:Tiger"(Valid)
  • "Favorite Animal : Tiger"(Valid)

🚫 No Flexible Spacing Within the Variable Name

  • "Favorite Animal"(Valid)
  • "FavoriteAnimal"(Invalid, must match original format in Ripple)

Case-Insensitive Search

  • Searching for "tiger" or "Tiger" will return the same results.

🚫 The Full Variable Name Must Be Used

  • "Favorite Animal"(Valid)
  • "Animal"(Invalid, must use the complete variable name)

What This Search Does Not Cover

🚫 The "Filter Dashboard" Feature

  • This search method only works in participant profile search bars (Potential & Enrolled Participants).

🚫 Partial Custom Variable Name Searches

  • The full variable name must be typed correctly. Searching for "Animal:Tiger" instead of "Favorite Animal:Tiger" will not return results.
