How to Export and Import Pieces of Your Study Settings

Exporting and importing Study Settings helps streamline study start-up and share best practices between Ripple sites. This feature allows teams to share configurations across Ripple sites or send files to Ripple support for troubleshooting.

Exportable and Importable Settings

The following components can be exported and imported:

  • Statuses
  • Custom Variables
  • Contact Relationship Values
  • Contact Outcome Values
  • Email Templates
  • Text Templates
  • Surveys

How to Export a Study

To export a study, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure Admin Access: Verify that you have Study Admin access to the study you wish to export.
  2. Select the Study:
    • Use the Studies dropdown (red) to select the study you want to export.
  3. Navigate to Study Settings:
    • Go to the Study Settings tab (green) in the navigation menu.
  4. Access Details:
    • Click on the Details page (purple) within the Study Settings
  5. Export the Study:
    • Click the "Export Study" button (red) to download the study settings file.

Once in the Edit Study Details page, you can proceed with the export process. This allows you to share the study setup or retain it for future use.

LIMITATIONS: 

The following components are not included in the import:  Screening Forms, Recruitment Pages, Events and Bulk Tasks.

How to Import Pieces of a Study

To import study components into Ripple, follow these steps:

  1. Confirm Access: Ensure you have Study Admin access for the study where you want to import components.

  2. Select or Create Study:

    • Create or navigate to the Ripple study where you want to import the components.
  3. Open Study Settings:

    • Go to the Study Settings page (red).
  4. Access Import Section:

    • Go to the Details page (green).
    • Scroll down to the Import Study Component section.
  5. Import Study Definition:

    • Click the "Import Study Definition" button (purple).
    • Select the file of the study you exported.

6. Select Components to Import:

    • Choose the study components you want to import (red).
    • Click the "Import Selected Components" button (green).

7. Complete Import:

    • Confirm by clicking the "Yes, import components" button.

This process allows you to integrate selected components into your current study setup efficiently.

Keep Your Workflow Connected

When importing study components, ensure your workflow remains seamless:

  • If your surveys, emails, or text templates include survey URLs, make sure to import all related study components into your study simultaneously.
  • This ensures that all links and references remain functional and integrated within your workflow.
